Design Records

Launched in July 1957, Design Records was one of Pickwick's earliest sub-labels, designed to issue budget-priced albums. Its initial release featured an impressive 24 albums, with the catalog quickly expanding to 56 by the end of the year. The label's early focus was on "soundalike" cover versions of popular songs from stage shows and films, but it later diversified to include many other musical styles, particularly jazz. Over time, Design expanded its reach with its own series of sub-labels, including:
Collector Series
Design Country & Western
Design Blue Grass Music
Design Country Sacred Music
Design Spotlight Series
Festival of Fine Arts Series
International Collectors Series
Nouveau
Popular Favorites/Family Favorites
The Design Collectors Series
The label remained active until 1970.
