One of the most unique performers of the post-war era, Lord Buckley (born Richard Buckley) was a comedic creation that was part English royalty and part Dizzy Gillespie, according to contemporary reporters. It was his wife who encouraged him to make a virtual act out of his hipster slang, revisiting important literary works and giving them a completely different significance. Whilst he made his name as a nightclub performer, it did not take long before various record companies were beating a path to his door with the offer of a contract. He recorded some 15 albums during the course of his career, all of which were studio recordings, although such was the atmosphere created in the studio by Lord Buckley you can be forgiven for thinking that these are live recordings. This album contains the material featured on Euphoria from 1955, together with some later bonus material.

1. The Bad-Rapping Of The Marquis De Sade The King Of The Bad Cats
2. The Nazz
3. Mark Anthony’s Funeral Oration
