After a brief stint with Rainbow Records, The Clovers signed with Atlantic Records in 1951 and scored a number one hit first time out with Don't You Know I Love You. The song was written by label boss Ahmet Ertegun, and he would be responsible for several of the group's hits over the next few years. Other major composers who provided material included Rudy Toombs (One Mint Julep) and Charles Calhoun (Your Cash Ain't Nothin' But Trash), all of whom kept The Clovers at the top of the charts as the decade progressed. The group would eventually leave Atlantic for United Artists and later enjoy something of a revival when linking with Leiber and Stoller, but this compilation gathers together their biggest hits recorded for Atlantic Records.
